Zac's Lungs
Mark, age 54, received Zac's lungs. He suffered from Pulmonary Fibrosis, which means the fibers in his lungs were growing too rapidly and causing serious breathing problems. He is married with two children. He is very close to his family but particularly close to his son. He is now working full-time.
Zac's Heart
Adolfo, an 11-year-old boy from Texas, received Zac's heart. The young boy suffered from Marfan's Syndrome, a genetic problem that often causes heart failure. He has attended cardiac camp the last two summers, and they report was literally the most popular kid there! Before his transplant he was not able to walk, but now is walking without any assistance. The transplant center states they are always impressed with him when he comes to clinic because he knows all of his medications and the correct doses. He is very thankful for his new heart and is taking care of it.
Zac's Left Kidney & Pancreas
A 39-year-old woman from Missouri received Zac's Left Kidney and Pancreas. She suffered from Diabetic Muscle Infarction. She is single and very close to her family; especially her mother and brother. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Zac's Right Kidney
A 57 year-old man from Missouri received Zac’s Right Kidney. He needed a transplant due to hypertension and diabetes. He is now doing very well. His kidney function is good. Prior to transplant he was on disability and unable to work. Since his transplant he has been able to work full time. He lives with his wife and son and has a very supportive family. He enjoys traveling.
Zac's Liver
Thomas from Missouri received Zac’s Liver. He suffered from the Hepatitis C Virus which was causing the failure of his liver. He is now doing great. He lives with his daughter and the transplant center said he is an very nice man.
